What’s so special about April anyway?

Were you umm-ing and ah-ing about switching payroll providers this April?
Hesitant because it’s your first time outsourcing?
Too busy to worry about improving your payroll systems?

Next April is only 11 months away… But why wait until then? It’s a common misconception with payroll that it’s April or never when it comes to outsourcing or switching providers. But that isn’t the case!

Traditionally April was the time of the year to change payroll provider as it was the beginning of the tax year. This helped ease the process as all year to dates would be zero and leavers would have been removed from the payroll.

When choosing a new payroll provider, clients naturally have a few common questions they would like answering and these questions appear to be the same for our charity customers as any other.

Here is a list of the top 10 to help your transition go a little smoother.

National Minimum wage 2014

1st of October 2014 will see the National Minimum Wage (NMW) will be increased to the following

The Adult Rate will increase from £6.31 to £6.50 per hour

18-20 year olds will increase from £5.03 to £5.13

There seems to be an increasing trend in the outsourcing market for global players to look for cheaper and cheaper ways to deliver service. Often this means a global approach to delivering their service.

The charity payroll outsourcing market is very competitive and the likes of Northgate, ADP, Moorepay, Ceridian etc are rightly looking for ways to improve their own bottom lines by delivering services with the lowest costs to them.
