Mass Flu Jab at Dataplan

Written by  Tuesday, 17 November 2015

There are many things to enjoy about winter; snow, Christmas, reruns of Die Hard, but getting the flu isn’t one of them. With flu season fast approaching and the risk of high staff absences, it is sensible to take measures, especially if your offices are open-plan; if one person gets the flu it is likely to spread like wild fire!

At the end of October, Dataplan Payroll Limited offered all of their staff a free flu jab which not only helped curb the sneezy outbreak that had begun, but also dispelled the myth that the flu jab gives you the flu. The very nice nurse that came to the office to administer the jab explained that the misconception occurs because the vaccination actually takes 14 days to take effect and so if you were already coming down with the flu, the jab wouldn’t stop the virus and therefore people believe the vaccination gave them flu, but it didn’t.

If you work in an open-plan office, the flu jab might be worth thinking about if not in the workplace then at your doctor’s office. It has now gone past the 14 day mark and I am happy to report that we seem to be working in a sneeze-free environment, touch wood! A big thank you to Dataplan, we all appreciate being spared the dreaded disease. Here’s wishing you all a happy, healthy festive season.
