Celebrate National Payroll Week 2012 with Dataplan Payroll Limited from the 3rd to 7th of September.

For the past five years Dataplan have been delighted to support the CIPP scheme where we can. This year’s theme is “Driving Payroll Forward”.

Over the years payroll has become more complicated than ever. In particular 2012 is an important year for payroll with the introduction of RTI and Auto enrolment. This has made it ever more essential to have staff with the right payroll skills to understand and interpret the forever changing complex payroll legislation.

National Payroll Week is an initiative from the Chartered Institute of Payroll Professionals (CIPP) to help promote how important these professionals are to the UK economy.

To those in the sector the NCVO is the body to provide information, advice and support. Representing the voluntary and community sector in England it also provides a national voice and representation.

Already corporate members of the NCVO we are delighted now to have become one of their approved consultants in the field of payroll services for charities.

Nearly 12,000 taxpayers are about to receive penalty notices from HM Revenue & Customs in error.

These letters warn the recipients that they will face £10 per day fines starting next Tuesday for not filing their tax return despite the taxpayer having been told they no longer need to fill in self-assessment tax forms. The taxpayers affected have originally been told that they could settle their bill through the PAYE system

Approximately 130,000 taxpayers were taken out of the self-assessment process when HMRC's updated their records. However, 12,000 of them have received the penalty notice by mistake.

In 2011 HMRC were hit by a huge amount of negative publicity from employers across the UK in respect of their treatment of penalities where late P35's were filed. Indeed they were accused of actively profiteering.

The rate at which P35 penalities apply is £100 per 50 employees for every month that your return is late and this remains the same for the 2011/12 tax year.
